Stage 3 Appeal – Key Points for Students

A Stage 3 Appeal is a process where a student disputes:

1 - The outcome of a Stage 2 Formal Complaint:

You have 10 business days from receiving the Stage 2 Complaint Outcome to submit this Appeal Form. If the appeal is not submitted within this time frame, the outcome will be considered accepted and the complaint will be closed.

You can appeal a Stage 2 Complaint outcome if you believe:

  • The decision ignored relevant facts or evidence.
  • There was bias, prejudice, or a conflict of interest.
  • There was a significant policy or procedure error in handling your complaint.
  • New, relevant evidence has become available that was not reasonably accessible at the time of the original decision.

Appeals cannot be based solely on disagreement with academic judgment if the original decision followed approved academic policies.

2 -  Notice of Intent to Report (ITR), or an unsuccessful application for; refund, leave of absence, provider transfer or credit & RPL

For all other appeal reasons relevant to Section 2, please refer to the applicable submission timeframes outlined in the relevant formal correspondence or in the associated policies and procedures.

Your appeal must explain your grounds, include supporting evidence, and state the outcome you want. Only evidence available during earlier stages will usually be considered.

On receipt of a valid internal appeal, you will be provided with written confirmation, and where appropriate, may be asked to attend a hearing in person or by alternative means at no cost. You will not face discrimination or victimisation for lodging an appeal.
